Die Duisburger Philharmoniker schreiben für die Saison 2022/23 zum ersten Mal Kompositionsstipendien für neue transkulturelle Werke aus.

Komponist:innen aus aller Welt können sich bewerben und werden durch eine Jury ausgewählt, in Workshops ab Frühjahr 2023 ein neues Werk für Sinfonieorchester mit einem genuinen transkulturellen Ansatz erarbeiten. Dieses Werk kann ein traditionell-folkloristisches Soloinstrument jeglicher kultureller Herkunft beinhalten.

Das Kompositionsstipendium hat das Ziel, im Rahmen von Workshops mit einem abschließenden Konzert eine Plattform für Komponistinnen und Komponisten zu schaffen und transkulturelles Arbeiten zu fördern. Damit wollen die Duisburger Philharmoniker eine Erweiterung und Öffnung des symphonischen Repertoires anregen. Zudem soll der kreative und konstruktive Austausch zwischen Publikum, Komponist:innen und ausführenden Musikerinnen und Musikern verstärkt werden. Die Duisburger Philharmoniker wollen somit Impulsgeber zur Begegnung verschiedener Musikkulturen weltweit werden.

Interessierte Komponist:innen können sich mit einer ausgearbeiteten Skizze von etwa 2 Minuten Länge bis zum 28. November 2022 per E-Mail an kompositionspreis-duisburger-philharmoniker@posteo.de bewerben.

Am 19. Dezember werden die (bis zu 7) Stipendiat:innen bekannt gegeben. Bis zum Beginn des Workshops im Frühjahr müssen die Arbeiten an dem Stück weit fortgeschritten sein. Die Abgabe der fertigen Partituren von jeweils 8-10 Minuten erfolgt am 15. April 2023.

Die Komponist:innen werden dann ihr transkulturelles Stück in Proben mit den Duisburger Philharmonikern und der Dirigentin Konstantia Gourzi erarbeiten. Die Proben vermitteln spannende Einblicke in den Arbeits- und Klangprozess. In einem Abschlusskonzert am 23. Juni 2023 werden die neuen Werke öffentlich uraufgeführt.

Die Bewerbung und Teilnahme an diesem Wettbewerb sind kostenlos. Die ausgewählten Stipendiaten bekommen Hotel- und Reisekosten sowie die Workshop-Teilnahme finanziert.

Die Preise werden durch das Publikum vergeben und betragen 3.000 € (1. Preis), 2.000 € (2. Preis) und 1.000 € (3. Preis). Sie werden durch die Gesellschaft der Freunde der Duisburger Philharmoniker e. V. gefördert.

Die Leitung des Workshops übernimmt Konstantia Gourzi, Kuratorin und Composer in Residence des Festivals Eigenzeit 2023. Die Jury besteht aus Konstantia Gourzi (Vorsitz), Lin Chen, Marina Heredia, Koray B. Sari und Yalda Yazdani.

For the 2022/23 season, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra is offering composition scholarships for new transcultural works for the first time. Composers from all over the world can apply. They will be commissioned by a jury to develop a new work for symphony orchestra with a genuine transcultural approach. This will be done in workshops, starting in Spring 2023. This work may include a traditional folkloric solo instrument of any cultural origin.

The composition scholarship aims to promote transcultural work, to create a platform for composers within the framework of workshops, and to provide a concluding concert. In this way, the Duisburg Philharmonic aims to stimulate the expansion and opening-up of the symphonic repertoire. In addition, the creative and constructive exchange between the audience, composers and performing musicians is to be strengthened. The aim of the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra is to bring together musical cultures from throughout the world.

The scholarship holders (up to 7) will be announced on 19 December. They are expected to have well advanced in their work on the piece by the beginning of the Spring workshops. The submission of the finished scores, each of 8-10 minutes duration, will be on 15 April 2023.

The composers will then work on their transcultural piece in rehearsals with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Konstantia Gourzi. The rehearsals will provide exciting insights into the working- and sonic process. The new works will be premiered in public in a final concert on 23 June 2023.

Application and participation in this competition are free of charge. The selected scholarship holders will receive funding for hotel and travel expenses as well as workshop participation.

The prizes are awarded by the audience and amount to €3000 (1st prize), €2000 (2nd prize) and €1000 (3rd prize). They are sponsored by the Friends of the Duisburg Philharmonic association.

The workshops will be led by Konstantia Gourzi, curator and composer-in-residence of the Eigenzeit Festival 2023. The jury consists of Konstantia Gourzi (chair), Lin Chen, Marina Heredia, Koray B. Sari and Yalda Yazdani.

La Orquesta Filarmónica de Duisburgo otorga por primera vez para la temporada 2022/23 Becas de composición para nuevas obras transculturales. Compositores y compositoras de todo el mundo pueden presentar su solicitud y serán seleccionados por un jurado para crear en talleres una nueva obra para orquesta sinfónica con un enfoque transcultural a partir de la primavera 2023. Esta obra puede incluir un instrumento tradicional folclórico solista de cualquier origen cultural.

El objetivo de la beca de composición es crear una plataforma para los compositores en el marco de talleres con un concierto final y fomentar el trabajo transcultural. Con ello, la Filarmónica de Duisburgo quiere incitar la ampliación y apertura del repertorio sinfónico. Además el fomento del intercambio creativo y constructivo entre el público, los compositores y los músicos intérpretes. De este modo, la Orquesta Filarmónica de Duisburgo quiere convertirse en impulsora del encuentro de diferentes culturas musicales en todo el mundo.

Los compositores interesados pueden presentar su solicitud enviando un boceto elaborado de aprox. 2 minutos de duración antes del 28 de noviembre de 2022 via correo electrónico a kompositionspreis-duisburger-philharmoniker@posteo.de

Los becarios (hasta 7) se darán a conocer el 19 de diciembre. Hasta el inicio del taller en la primavera el desarollo de las obras deberá estar muy avanzado. La fecha de entrega de las partituras terminadas de 8 – 10 minutos cada una será el 15 de abril de 2023.

Entonces, los compositores elaborarán su obra transcultural en ensayos con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Duisburgo y la directora Konstantia Gourzi. Los ensayos proporcionarán una visión emocionante del proceso de trabajo y desarrollo sonoro. Las nuevas obras se estrenarán en público en un concierto final el 23 de junio de 2023.

La solicitud y la participación en este concurso es gratuita. Los becarios seleccionados recibirán la financiación de los gastos de hotel y viaje, así como de la participación en el taller.

Los premios son otorgados por el público y ascienden a 3.000 euros (1er premio), 2.000 euros (2º premio) y 1.000 euros (3 er premio). Están patrocinados por la Sociedad de Amigos de la Filarmónica de Duisburgo.

El taller estará dirigido por Konstantia Gourzi, curadora y compositora en residencia del Festival Eigenzeit 2023. El jurado estará formado por Konstantia Gourzi (presidenta), Lin Chen, Marina Heredia, Koray B. Sari y Yalda Yazdani.
