Die weltweit gefeierte Odissi-Künstlerin Bijayini Satpathy gilt als herausragende Tänzerin, Choreografin und Wissenschaftlerin. Im Alter von 50 Jahren begann sie ihre Solokarriere mit „Abhipsaa – A Seeking“ (2021), einer Auftragsarbeit von Duke Performances und den Baryshnikov Arts. Ihr experimentelles Werk „Dohā“ (2021–22) entstand während ihrer Residency am Metropolitan Museum of Art. Als Rockefeller Bellagio Resident (2024) und Fellow am NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts (2023–24) wurde sie mehrfach ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem Bessie Award (2020) und dem Dance Magazine Award (2023). Derzeit ist sie Alma Hawkins Visiting Chair an der UCLA. Zudem ist sie als Autorin im „Oxford Handbook of Indian Dance“ (2026) in Erscheinung getreten.
Bijayini Satpathy, a globally acclaimed Odissi artist, is celebrated as a performer, choreographer, and scholar.
