The “Daf” player Kimia Bani was born in 1985 in Tehran/Iran and has been living in Germany since 2018.
She has a Bachelor in Theatre, Drama and performing Art. She has also studied “teacher of world music” and “theoretical composition”. She is a poet and has a published poetry book.
She has been a professional Persian percussionist and music teacher for more than 15 years. She has played with many international musicians and had many concerts both in Iran and Germany. She is a percussion teacher at Konservatorium für türkische Musik since 2020.
She always tries to do many activities to support the music scene and increase her knowledge of international music by collaborating with various music groups in Germany, including East and West bands, women and feminist bands, and sexual and gender minority bands. As an independent musician, she also collaborates with Iranian film and television projects on composing and producing fusion music.
She could successfully get the “TamburiMundi Framedrum Academy” scholarship at the end of last year and nowadays she is busy collaborating with professional percussionists from all over the world.
She is also the winner of “TamburiMundi Framedrum Award 2021”.
